The position of women in the early twentieth century

History

Knowledge of parliamentary reform in the early 20th century and the wider campaign for women's rights will help pupils contextualise the social changes in Britain, that took place in the later part of the century (Y9).

Pupils will have knowledge of how women have been impacted since medieval times, with their knowledge of the Anarchy (Y7) and Elizabeth I (Y8). Pupils' knowledge of the Enlightenment and the power of new ideas will also give them an appreciation of the significance of the Campaign for Women's Suffrage (Y8).
