In this unit pupils will revisit how numbers are represented cardinally and ordinally. They will partition 1 - 5 in different ways and find a missing part. In the future unit pupils will represent numbers 6 - 10 by partitioning in different ways. They will learn what odd and even numbers are and how they can be partitioned. They will identify a missing part when a whole is partitioned into 2 parts

In prior learning, pupils will have explored the composition of numbers to 10 and be able to subitise up to 5. In this unit pupils will partition 1 to 5 in different ways and find a missing part.
