A prefix is a group of letters attached to the front of a root (word) to make a new word, for example tricycle.

Milli placed before a unit means (1/1000)

This unit on place value allows pupils to develop the skills needed to estimate and round values. By understanding the value of each digit, pupils can determine what other values are close to the original value. It continues the exploration of the infinite nature of sets of numbers.
