Hi there.

Welcome to your next remote learning lesson.

This lesson is on an introduction to target games.

This lesson is called "Accuracy: can you hit the zone?

" My name's Miss Hacking, and I'm really looking forward to being your teacher today.

So for this lesson, you are going to need some equipment.

What you're going to need is an object to throw.

So this could be a small ball or you could roll up a pair of socks.

You are also going to need three targets.

Now, the three targets could be maybe a book, a toy, or a shoe.

So you might want to pause the video now to go and get the equipment you need for today's lesson.

So by the end of today's lesson, I'm hoping that we can all send different objects using different parts of our body towards a target.

Our keywords.

Let's do my turn, your turn.

So the first word today, my turn, target.

Your turn.

So a target is something you focus on, you aim for, and you try to reach or hit.

Our second keyword today, my turn, kick.

Your turn.

Kick.

Striking or propelling a ball or another object with the foot is what is known as a kick.

Now you might have heard the word kick before.

You might have kicked something or kicked an object before.

Our third keyword, my turn, roll.

Your turn.

So roll is when a ball moves by turning over and over along the ground.

That's the important thing with a roll, it goes along the ground.

Okay, now before we start today's lesson, it's really important that we get our body ready for exercise.

So we are going to perform a warmup.

In this warmup, you're going to show what you know about throwing accurately.

You're going to throw and catch an object as many times as you can without dropping it.

You could use a ball, a beanbag, or rolled up socks.

Aim to throw your object upwards, just above your head.

And challenge yourself by beating your previous score.

So count how many times you throw and catch and then see if you can beat your score.

Try and do as many as you can in 30 seconds.

And could you change how you throw your object?

Those are things to think about while you are performing the warmup.

If you're a little bit unsure, there is a video showing now on how to complete the warmup.

So watch the video, then pause and complete your warmup.

Okay, today's lesson is split into two parts.

In the first part of today's lesson, we're going to use our hands to accurately aim a ball at a target.

And in the second part of today's lesson, we're going to use our feet to accurately aim a ball at a target.

Are you ready to go?

Let's get started.

So Jun and Andeep have set up a zone between two targets.

They would like the ball to land between the two targets.

Jun and Andeep are talking about sending an object accurately with their hands so it lands in the zone between the two targets.

Jun has said, "I'm going to roll a ball, which will require concentration to ensure it lands in the zone.

" Especially if he has to make it land between the two targets, he will have to be really accurate with his roll.

And Andeep said that "I'm going to throw the ball, but I must use the correct technique to ensure it lands accurately in the zoned area.

" So Andeep isn't going to roll the ball.

He's going to throw it and hope that it lands between the two targets.

Okay, let's have a go at a quick check.

Which is not a way to send the ball with your hands?

Would it be A, kicking it?

Would it be B, rolling it?

Or would it be C, throwing it?

Which is not a way to send the ball with your hands?

Well done if you said A, kicking it, because kicking it means we wouldn't use our hands, we would use our feet.

So well done if you got that right.

So if we are going to accurately roll the ball like Jun, we need to get low by bending your knees.

Can you have a go at that for me?

Get low and bend your knees.

Use a gentle, controlled push.

If we want to be accurate and get the ball between our two targets, we wouldn't need to roll it with too much power.

Keep your eyes on the gap between the targets.

So always look where you are aiming for.

And point your hand and your body towards the gap to help you roll the ball straight.

So you might want to point at where you're aiming for as well.

That might help.

Jun said that "I'm going to practice my technique by rolling the ball accurately so it stops in the zone between the targets.

" Now that's a good idea.

Can you try rolling the ball with the correct technique too?

So why don't you have a practice at rolling the ball accurately?

You might want to be more like Andeep and have a go at throwing the ball rather than rolling the ball.

So to accurately throw the ball between the targets, you need to use an underarm throw.

Stand with your opposite leg forward.

So if you have the ball in your right hand, you want to step forward with your opposite leg, okay?

So you would want to step forward with your left hand.

If you are holding the ball with your left hand, you would want to step forward with your right leg.

Keep your eyes on the targets or always look where you're aiming for and follow through with your hand after releasing the ball.

Just like on the image, the hand is following through in the direction that they want the ball.

And Andeep has reminded us that we always use underarm throws for shorter, more accurate throws and especially when we're inside the house.

So inside the house we always do an underarm throw, just like the image is showing on the screen.

Andeep said that "I'm going to practice my technique by accurately throwing the ball underarm so it stops in the zone between the targets.

" Can you have a go at throwing the ball with the correct technique too?

So why don't you have a practice at trying to throw underarm so your ball lands between the two targets?

But Jun said, "Remember, when rolling or throwing a ball, don't use too much power.

A gentle push or throw will help the ball land in the target zone.

" Yes, if you use too much power, it's going to go past your target zone, and you're not going to be very accurate.

Andeep said that "Consistently trying to hit a target zone takes resilience and persistence to keep going, even if we miss the first time.

" So that's what I want to see today, that even if you miss, that you keep going and you show some resilience and persistence to keep practicing your technique.

Okay, let's have a go at a quick check.

True or false?

When throwing accurately over a short distance inside the house, you should use an overarm throw.

Is that true or is that false?

Well done if you said that's false, but can you tell me why?

Yeah, it's false because you want to use an underarm throw in the house over a short distance because it will have greater accuracy and it's especially important inside the house.

So we always use an underarm throw inside the house, not an overarm throw.

Okay, now it's your turn to have a go at a task.

For this task, you're going to make a target zone using zone markers like two cuddly toys or two cushions.

You're going to add another marker to show where you start.

Roll or throw the ball to see how many times it lands in the target zone out of five rolls or throws.

If it lands in the target zone three or more times, make the target zone a bit smaller so it's a bit harder, or move the target zone a bit further away.

If it lands in the target zone less than three times, have one extra go when you repeat the activity and try to beat your first score.

So you need to set up two targets to aim between and another target for you to throw or roll from.

Now, there is a video showing next on how to complete the task if you're a little bit unsure, but I think you're going to perform some really accurate throws or rolls into the zoned area.

Okay, let's reflect upon our first task then.

Move: accurately sending objects towards a target requires using the correct technique for rolling.

And Jun said that "I practiced, then I used the correct technique for rolling, getting low, and using soft, gentle push.

" Did you?

Did you use the correct technique for rolling?

Did you have a practice first and then were you successful?

Think: knowing how to roll a ball accurately using the correct technique requires concentration.

And Jun said that "I used concentration and the knowledge of rolling to accurately aim the ball towards the target.

" So did you?

Did you accurately use the correct technique, using your concentration to make sure that you were accurate?

I bet you did.

Feel: consistently trying hard to hit the target, even if we miss, demonstrates resilience.

And Andeep said that "I kept trying even when I missed the first few times, which demonstrated resilience.

" And I hope you did too.

It's quite a hard task to always land the ball in the target zone.

So the fact that if you missed you kept going, that does show real resilience, and that's what I'm hoping that you showed today.

And connect: only counting the score when an attempt is accurate demonstrates fairness.

And Andeep said that "I was honest and only counted the times my ball actually landed in the target zone.

" Yes, so he didn't cheat and I hope you didn't cheat too, that you only gave yourself a point when your ball landed in the target zone and you were honest.

Well done for completing the first task.

Okay, we are now going to move on to the second part of today's lesson.

In this part of the lesson, we're going to use our feet to accurately aim a ball at a target.

So can you think of any other ways you can get a ball or some rolled up socks to land in a target zone, other than rolling or throwing?

What do you think?

And Laura said, "I can!

I'm going to use my feet to kick my ball into the target zone.

" So that's another way that we can move the ball or send the ball from one place to the target zone.

But she's also reminded us that we need to make sure we're in a safe space and using a light ball or socks where you can't damage anything inside the house.

So if we are playing inside the house, we do need to be really careful that we are not going to hit anything or anyone.

So to accurately kick the ball or a rolled up pair of socks, you need to stand with your non-kicking foot next to the ball.

You look at where you want the ball to go.

So again, you are looking where you are aiming in between the target zones.

You swing your kicking foot to kick the middle of the ball.

And keep your eyes on the ball as you kick it, as it might not go straight if you look up before you finish.

Follow through with your leg to help the ball go straight.

So that one's important.

So make sure that you follow through with that straight leg so that the ball goes towards a target zone.

Okay, a quick check then.

Where should your eyes focus when kicking the ball?

Should it be up in the sky?

Should it be on the ball?

Or should it be on the screen with me talking to you?

What do you think?

Well done if you said that your eyes should focus on the ball when you're kicking the ball.

Okay, another quick check then, but this time you're going to show me.

Can you show me where your kicking leg should finish after kicking the ball?

So when you finish kicking the ball, you should follow through with your leg to help the ball go straight and to the target.

So just like Laura here, her leg is following through towards the target, and that's what your leg should look like too.

So well done if you did that.

Laura said, "We must use a right amount of force in our kick so we are accurate.

And this requires concentration, so not using too much power.

" She's also said that "It's also important to show resilience.

If it's difficult to get the ball in a target zone first time, then we keep trying.

" And that is really important, especially if we're playing a game where we're aiming the ball, we might miss because it is a hard task to do, but we need to keep practicing and keep trying to show that resilience so that we can keep improving our kick.

That is really important.

Okay, now it's time for our second task of the lesson.

This task is called kick golf.

What you're going to do in this task is make a target zone using the two markers.

So like we did in task A with either cuddly toys or cushions or books.

You're going to put another cone down to show where you start, just like we did in task A.

But this time you're going to kick the ball and see how many kicks it takes you to get into the target zone.

Try to do it in as few kicks as possible, maybe even one.

And when you finish, make a new challenge by creating a different target zone.

Now there is a video showing next of how you can perform this task if you're a little bit unsure, but I think you're going to show me some really accurate kicks today.

So have lots of fun.

Okay, let's reflect on task B then.

So, move: accurately sending objects towards a target requires using the correct technique for kicking.

And Laura said that "I used the correct technique for kicking, following through with a straight leg.

" Did you remember to follow through with a straight leg?

If you did, I bet your kicks were more accurate.

Think: knowing how to kick a ball accurately using the correct technique requires concentration.

And Laura said that "I used concentration and the knowledge of kicking to accurately aim the ball towards a target.

" Now did you concentrate in this game?

Did you make sure that your kicks were really accurate by concentrating on the ball?

I bet you did.

Feel: consistently trying hard to hit the target, even if we miss, demonstrates resilience.

And Laura said that "I kept trying even when I missed the first few times, which demonstrated resilience.

" So Laura showed resilience because she missed a few times, but she kept going, and I really hope that you showed resilience too, especially if you missed a couple of the kicks, that's okay.

I hope you picked the ball up and had another go.

And connect: only counting the score when an attempt is accurate demonstrates fairness.

And Laura said that "I was honest and I only counted the times my ball actually landed in the target zone.

" And I hope you did too.

I hope you were really honest with your scoring to make sure that you didn't cheat.

Okay, so we are nearly at the end of today's lesson, but before we finish, we need to perform our cooldown.

So for our cooldown, you're going to create a target in your space.

Walk slowly within the space.

Using your ball or socks, every five seconds, stop still and roll or kick your ball towards the target.

Whilst you're moving slowly within the space, think about how you were successful when using an accurate underarm throw, roll, or kick.

And which actions were more controlled?

What could you do between now and the next lesson to practice your skills even further?

So pause the video now to complete your cooldown.

And finally, let's summarize today's key learning points.

So, move: accurately sending objects towards a target requires the correct technique for kicking and rolling.

So did you use the correct technique for kicking and rolling?

I bet you did, and if you did, I'm sure you were really accurate.

Think: knowing how to roll a ball accurately using the correct technique requires concentration.

And I'm sure you showed lots of concentration in today's lesson to be accurate getting it into your target zone.

Concentration also enables us to kick a ball towards a target using the correct technique.

So again, not just using concentration when we were rolling, but using concentration when we were kicking too, to be really accurate.

Feel: consistently trying hard to hit the target, even if we miss, demonstrates self-belief.

And I think that we showed a lot of self-belief if we kept going, even if we missed a target.

So well done if you did that today.

And connect: only counting the score when an attempt is accurate demonstrates fairness, and I'm sure you were really fair and really honest with your score, making sure that you only counted the ones that landed in a target zone.

Now, I really enjoyed being your teacher today.

I think you've worked really hard with your accuracy of your rolling, kicking, and throwing.

And I look forward to seeing you again soon.
