Hello, my name is Mrs. Clinton, and I'm excited to be helping us with our learning today.

We are gonna have a great time.

Today's lesson is called the Lord's Prayer, and it's taken from the unit Prayer: Is It Possible to Speak with God? And we will be thinking about what the Lord's Prayer is and why it's important still today.

Sometimes learning can be challenging, but that's great because we can work really hard together and learn lots of new things.

So we have some keywords that are going to help us today with our learning.

And we're going to do I say, you say.

So I say prayer, you say.

I say prayer.

You say.

Last time, a little bit louder.

I say prayer, you say.

And prayer are the words or thoughts to help someone talk or listen to God.

Let's do our next word.

I say eternal, you say.

I say eternal, you say.

And eternal is something that lasts forever with no beginning and no end.

I say Lord's Prayer, you say.

I say Lord's Prayer, you say.

The Lord's Prayer is a Christian prayer that Jesus taught his followers.

So in today's lesson, we've got two parts, part one, what is the Lord's Prayer, and part two, how does the Lord's Prayer help Christians? So let's start with part one, what is the Lord's Prayer? Izzy and Andeep are talking about religious education.

Izzy said, "Why are we always learning about what people do in religious education lessons?" And Andeep says, "Finding out about what people do can help us learn about their beliefs and ideas about God." So in this lesson, we're going to be finding out about a Christian prayer, the Lord's Prayer.

Now, prayer is very important to Christians, and a very famous prayer is called the Lord's Prayer.

Izzy wonders, "Why is it called the Lord's Prayer?" And Andeep answers, "We could talk to some Christians to find out more." Well, that sounds an excellent idea.

Izzy and Andeep are talking with Brother Sam.

He's a monk and he has a Christian worldview view.

"Hi, Brother Sam.

Do you know the Lord's Prayer?" "Yes, I do.

It's a very famous prayer that Jesus, our Lord," so Christians will often call Jesus the Lord, or our Lord, "Gave it to us to use each day." In my community," which is where Brother Sam lives, "We say it out loud together every day." So I have a question for you.

Who taught the Lord's Prayer to their followers? Was it A, Muhammad, B, Abraham, or C, Jesus? You might like to pause this video to give you a little moment to think about your answer or maybe to discuss it with the person next to you.

Come back and start this video again when you've decided on your answer.

Welcome back.

So who taught the Lord's Prayer to their followers? Was it A, B, or C? Which did you think? The answer is it's C, Jesus.

Well done if you got that correct.

Brother Sam explains more.

"The Lord's Prayer has been translated into over 500 different languages, and it's prayed all around the world in lots of different styles.

It's found in the Christian holy book, the Bible." Would you like to read the prayer? Well, I would.

How about you? Great.

Shall we do that then? Ooh, we've got a quick question before we get to it.

Now, you've gotta think about this one.

There's only one English version of the Lord's Prayer.

Is that true or false? True or false? You might like to pause this video to give you time to think about your answer.

When you've got your answer, come back and start the video, and I'll tell you whether it's true or false.

Welcome back.

Now, show me on your thumbs, was it true or false? True or false? The answer is false.

Why? There are over 500 different versions of the Lord's Prayer from all around the world in different languages and different styles.

So there isn't just one version of it.

Here's the first part of the Lord's Prayer.

"Jesus said, "This, then, is how you should pray.

Our Father in heaven, holy is your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on Earth as it is in heaven." So let's have a look at what these parts mean.

So here's the first line, "Our Father in heaven." This tells Christians that God is their heavenly Father.

So Christians believe that heaven is a place of love and joy, where God's love rules everything.

"Holy is your name." This tells Christians that God is special, separate, and pure.

They should respect God and use his name very carefully.

The next part is, "Your kingdom come, and your will be done on Earth as it is in heaven." This tells Christians that God has an eternal kingdom.

They should pray and work for God's kingdom of love and peace on Earth, as well as in heaven.

So God's kingdom never has a beginning or an end.

It's forever, and Christians' role is to try and bring the good stuff in heaven into the Earth so the Earth can be more like heaven.

I have a question for you.

The Lord's Prayer says God's kingdom is about love and peace everywhere.

Is that true or false? True or false? Now, you might like to pause this video to give you some time to talk to the person next to you or think about your own answer.

Come back and start the video when you've got your answer.

Welcome back.

Shall we see what the answer is? Was it true or false? Show me with your thumbs, true or false? And the answer is true.

Well done if you got that correct.

Why? The Lord's Prayer does tell Christians that God's kingdom is about praying and working for love and peace everywhere, on Earth as well as in heaven.

Well done if you got that answer correct.

Now, the second part of the Lord's Prayer continues, "Give us today our daily bread and forgive us our sins, as we also have forgiven those who've sinned against us, and lead us not into temptation and deliver us from evil."" So let's have a think about the second part of the Lord's Prayer.

What do you think's happening here? "Give us today our daily bread." This tells Christians that they should ask God to provide food and for all their other needs, just like a good parent would look after their children.

I think some of that food on that table looks very yummy.

I'd quite like to be looked after by those parents.

And the next part of the Lord's Prayer says, "And forgive us our sins, as we also have forgiven those who have sinned against us." So this tells Christians that they need to say sorry to God and sometimes to others when they get things wrong, but also, they need to forgive those who upset or hurt them.

Now, forgiveness is a hard thing to do, but Jesus was teaching his followers it was something they needed to do if they were going to follow him.

"And lead us not into temptation and deliver us from evil." What do you think's going on in this picture? Well, it looks to me if one person has a lot of food and the other one looks like they're very hungry, so we don't want to be tempted to want what other people have had, or maybe we've got to make sure how our actions are fair and loving and good.

So the prayer asks God to help people to make right choices and to save them from harm.

So maybe the boy with all that food could do some sharing, make a right choice.

So I have a question for you.

Can you tick all the correct statements about the Lord's Prayer? A, the Lord's Prayer is about animals, B, the Lord's Prayer says Christians should ask God for their daily needs, and C, the Lord's Prayer say Christians should forgive others.

I'd like you to pause this video to give you time to maybe talk with the person next to you or work on your own to tick all the correct statements from A, B, and C.

Come back and start the video once you've done that.

Welcome back.

So shall we see which are the correct statements? It's B and C.

Very well done if you got those correct, that's great learning and recall about what we've been learning.

I have a task for you.

Can you match the correct part of the Lord's Prayer to the correct image? So you'll see this image one, two, and three.

Can you match the right image to A, B, or C? So if we're looking at number one, which is the right part of the Lord's Prayer that goes with part one? You might like to pause this recording to give you some time to work on your own, in a group, or with a friend on your answer.

And come back to me when you're ready to look at my answer and your answer and see if you've got everything matched correctly.

Welcome back.

Well, let's have a look and see what the answer is.

So the correct answers are that number one goes with B, our Father in heaven, number two, the picture of the crown, goes with your kingdom come, and number three goes with A, give us today our daily bread.

Very well done if you got that correct.

I'm so proud of that thinking and that hard work to match those answers.

So let's go on to the second part of our lesson.

How does the Lord's Prayer help Christians? So Izzy and Andeep speak further with Brother Sam, and they say, "How does the Lord's Prayer help you?" And Brother Sam answers, "It helps me to know that God is my Father in heaven." The word Jesus uses is Daddy, and it teaches me that my relationship with God can be very close, like a young child with their Dad." Izzy and Andeep are talking with Tia, who has a Christian worldview and attends a Methodist church.

"Hi, Tia," they say, "How does the Lord's Prayer help you?" And Tia says, "We say this prayer most weeks at my church.

It tells me that God is my Father.

He will always look after me in everything I do and never leave me." Now which answer is not correct? Is it A, B, or C? So which answer is not correct? The Lord's Prayer tells Christians that God will look after them, the Lord's Prayer tells Christians that God will always give them what they want, the Lord's Prayer tells Christians that they can have a very close relationship with God.

So you might like to pause this video to give you time to think about your answer, and then when you've got that, come back and start the video again.

Welcome back.

Shall we find out which one was not correct? It was B.

Yes, the Lord's Prayer doesn't teach Christians that God will always give them what they want.

Very well done if you got answer B.

That's great work.

Izzy and Andeep for talking with Asher, and he has a Christian world view and he attends a Free church.

"Hi, Asher.

How does the Lord's Prayer help you?" And Asher says, "It teaches me that God has a kingdom where he rules.

Christians often call this heaven.

The Lord's Prayer teaches me that God is eternal.

This means he has no beginning or end." So God and his kingdom go on forever.

Now, this is a Christian symbol.

I want you, when you can see it, to think what it might represent, what it might be trying to show.

So here it is Have a look and have a think.

What do you think that Christian symbol is trying to say? Asher continues, "To express that God is great and eternal, we often use this symbol in my religion.

It's a continuous loop that expresses that God has no beginning and no end.

He is eternal." And actually, we can trace it, can't we? We can see how that just all keeps going 'round in the pattern.

Fabulous.

Thank you, Asher.

So that symbol helps Asher to remember that God is great and God goes on forever.

He has no beginning, he has no end.

Izzy and Andeep are talking with Sophia, and she has a Christian worldview and attends an Anglican church.

"Hi, Sophia.

How does the Lord's Prayer help you?" "It teaches me that God will always forgive the things I've done or said that weren't right.

Sometimes my younger sister and I can upset each other when we're playing together.

But the Lord's Prayer teaches me there's hope." You can see there, there's a bit of a football game going on that's gone a bit wrong, hasn't it? Sophia continues, "My Christian faith teaches me to say sorry quickly for the things I get wrong.

I should also accept someone else's sorry.

If they are sorry, I should forget what they did and give it to God.

This is forgiveness." Wow, that's a hard thing to do, Sophia, but I'm really glad that your faith teaches you to have a go.

I have a question for you.

Is this true or is this false? Christians believe God cannot forgive bad sins.

You might like to pause this video to give you some time to think about your answer, and when you have an answer, come back and restart this video.

Welcome back.

So was the answer true or false? Christians believe God cannot forgive bad sins.

Show me with your thumbs after three, one, two, three, and the answer is false.

Why? Jesus taught Christians that God will forgive everyone if they're honest and they say a heartfelt sorry.

Well done if you got that correct.

Great.

So Izzy and Andeep think about what they have found out.

"The Lord's Prayer has a lot of meaning in it." And Andeep says, "Yes, I think I can see why Christians still pray it so often.

It teaches them about who God is and how to act well towards God and other people." Now, can you remember what these different Christians said about the Lord's Prayer? You might like to pause this video to give you some time to think for yourself, talk to the person next to you, or maybe in a small group.

Come back to me when you've finished your conversation.

Welcome back So I have a task for you now.

The Lord's Prayer teaches Christians to ask God for forgiveness when they say or do something that's not good.

Can you draw a picture of a situation that's gone wrong, and then another picture showing how the situation could be put right? So you might like to do this task on your own, with a partner, or even in a small group.

And I would pause the video and come back to me when you want to have a look at my answer to the question.

Welcome back.

Let's have a look at what your pictures might have looked like.

So when people are hungry, you should share your food.

So on the left, we've got the picture of somebody not sharing, and on the right, we've got the picture of the people sharing food.

I expect you might have had a different picture and a different idea, but well done if you've shown a problem and how we could solve it.

That's great, I'm really proud of your learning and your application of that learning in your answer.

So we've got to the end of our lesson today, and what have we learned about the Lord's Prayer? Well, Jesus taught the Lord's Prayer to his followers to help them to pray.

It's a very old prayer, and it's used in most churches today around the world.

The Lord's Prayer tells Christians some important beliefs about God, and the Lord's Prayer tells Christians some important ways in which to live well in the world.

Well, thank you so much for doing the lesson with me.

I'm going to say goodbye now, but I hope I see you again in another lesson soon.

Goodbye.
