Use ...  to mean ‘the’ for a masculine plural noun.

Use ....  to mean ‘the’ for a feminine plural noun.

... means ‘they are’ (permanent trait)

Translate into English: "las plazas son grandes"

Translate into Spanish: "the towns are small"
