Common misconception
Graphic novels and comics share many similar features. Pupils might use the term interchangeably.
Graphic novels have a clear beginning, middle and end, unlike comics which are usually released weekly in shorter comic strips.

Have physical copies of illustrated chapter books and graphic novels in class so pupils can make links from the lesson to texts available in school.
