  • Cinquain - a form of poetry consisting of five lines, typically with a specific syllable count or pattern

  • Ode - a form of poetry that expresses deep admiration, praise or celebration for a specific person, object or idea

Common misconception

Pupils may find counting syllables challenging.

Adults can model appropriate methods for syllable counting (including clapping, humming, tapping wrist).
