Key learning points

  1. It is important to have a firm knowledge of French SSCs in order to accurately transcribe spoken French.

Keywords

  • Sound-symbol correspondence - relationship between letters and their sounds

Common misconception

I should start transcribing as soon as the dictation begins.

It is useful to listen to the full sentence once before transcribing to get an idea of its meaning. This will help you write the sentence down and check it during the second and third times that the audio is played.
