Dribbling to score a point in game activities using our feet

Lesson details

Learning outcome

I can dribble with the ball at my feet under control and keep possession in order to score points in a game.

Key learning points

  1. Move: dribbling with control towards the goal increases the chance of scoring.
  2. Move: dribbling using the inside and outside of both feet helps you to change direction and keep control.
  3. Think: dribbling the ball too close to defenders could result in losing possession if you are tackled/tagged.
  4. Feel: when playing against others, keeping count of your own score promotes honesty.
  5. Connect: treating the defenders with respect when they gain possession of the ball shows integrity.

Keywords

  • Possession - the team in control of the ball

  • Goal - a net or area where you try to get the ball to score points in a game

Common misconception

When dribbling in a game to score points, pupils forget to keep control and rush, causing them to kick the ball too far ahead.
