Key learning points
- Move: accurate chest passes require us to step into the pass, pushing the ball away from our body.
- Move: receiving a chest pass, requires hands to be ready, creating a target for a partner to aim at.
- Think: passing the ball accurately to a teammate enables us to keep possession.
- Feel: trying your best and wanting to improve shows self-motivation.
- Connect: showing fairness helps us to play by the rules and ensures that everyone can enjoy the game.
Keywords
Chest pass - a type of pass where we aim to send the ball to our partners chest
Accurate - the ability to control where we throw a ball
Target - an object you are aiming for
Common misconception
Some pupils struggle with over or under throwing the ball, throwing either too hard or too soft. In game situations, pupils often all gravitate towards the ball.
Encourage pupils to continue to use the correct technique and focus on following through towards their target. This will eliminate the need to throw harder or softer as the technique will support accuracy. Ensure pupils are using the whole space.
