      Learning outcome

      I can use my feet to move with the ball into space.

      Key learning points

      1. Move: using the inside and outside of the foot to move the ball enables closer control.
      2. Move: dribbling the ball with close control enables us to move into space, keeping the ball away from defenders.
      3. Think: keeping the ball close and under control requires concentration.
      4. Feel: practising dribbling shows a commitment to improving our performance.
      5. Connect: listening to instructions and playing by the rules shows an understanding of fairness.

      Common misconception

      Pupils confuse dribbling with simply kicking the ball away, believing that any contact with the ball is dribbling.

      Emphasise the importance of soft, controlled touches with the inside of their feet.

      In the 1st cycle, allow pupils the chance to explore different dribbling techniques, before revealing the best technique for control.
