Common misconception
Dance styles such as Salsa or Ballet are 'proper' dancing.
All dance styles were created by someone, or a group, and develop e.g. pointe work in ballet was introduced in the 1820's/1830's. New styles are still being developed. All actions can be dance.
Teacher tip
When learning the basic step and counting to 8 it can help to subsitute in a clap or simply omit saying the numbers 4 and 8, e.g. 1 2 3 _ 5 6 7 _
