Lesson details

Key learning points

  1. Move: using actions, space, dynamics and relationships together helps us to communicate an idea.
  2. Move: pupils can create and hold shapes with balance and control to communicate an idea.
  3. Think: imagination helps us to create actions that communicate snow and frost.
  4. Feel: trying lots of different ideas requires courage.
  5. Connect: taking turns when mirroring a partner requires fairness and cooperation.

Keywords

  • Mirroring - reflecting an action

  • Swirling - circular actions involving twisting, turning, spiralling

  • Spiky - having sharp points

Common misconception

The pupils will only use their arms to communicate swirling snow.

Whilst arms offer a range of possible responses to suggest snow, guiding pupils to less conventional ideas such as a hip or an ear, pupils will respond with a far wider range of actions, building flexibility, control and coordination.
