Key learning points
- Move: performing a sequence of quality actions with flow requires moving smoothly along a selected pathway.
- Think: selecting which over, under, along and through movements to use shows imagination when using the apparatus.
- Connect: considering the feelings of others when suggesting improvements in their performance shows empathy.
- Feel: practising on a range of apparatus shows a commitment to creating our best sequence for our final performances.
Keywords
Practise - repeatedly doing something to improve
Select - choosing the best options (pathways or actions) for a sequence
Sequence - a combination of 2 or more actions that have been added (linked) together in a particular order
Common misconception
When performing sequences, some pupils perform too many actions, the sequence goes on for far too long and quality can be lost.
Remind pupils that sequences should have a beginning, a middle and an end so they can remember and repeat it. It is better to have a short, high quality sequence than a long, low quality one.
