Key learning points

  1. Move: being ready to react, keeping our head up and moving with a low position enables us to dodge effectively.
  2. Think: making effective decisions about when to attack and defend as a team requires concentration.
  3. Feel: demonstrating honesty throughout the game shows a strong understanding of all the rules.
  4. Connect: playing fairly within our own team and against the opposition will enable everyone to engage in the game.

Keywords

  • Team - a group of people who work together with the objective of achieving the same a goal

  • Game - an activity or sport in which people compete with each other according to agreed rules

  • Competitive - wanting to be the best or win in a game

Common misconception

Some pupils could think that competitive games are only about scoring points and will focus on this role in a team.

Competitive games require attacking and defensive skills as well as team work, listening, communication, decision making, honesty, self-belief and more.
