- Move: jumping for distance requires us to keep our head up, drive our arms and bend our knees to control the landing.
- Think: using the correct technique for jumping while combining jumps together will increase the distances we can jump.

Distance - the length of space between two points. This might mean how far an athlete has jumped
Combinations - linking individual jumps together to create a sequence of jumps
Control - landing softly with shoulders in line with the hips
Common misconception
Some pupils might think that their ability to jump far is fixed and cannot be changed or improved.
Everyone is capable of improving their performance. Practice, developing a good technique and showing self-belief can all help us to improve.
