      Key learning points

      2. Think: using our imagination and creativity helps our team to develop effective strategies.
      3. Think: knowing that successful teams collaborate and listen to each other's ideas will improve our team's performance.
      4. Feel: playing by the rules as a team when completing challenges demonstrates trust.
      5. Connect: cooperating as a team demonstrates gratitude, showing you have trust in other members of your team.

      Keywords

      • Team - a group of people who work together to reach a goal

      • Trust - being able to rely on others

      • Including - not leaving anyone or anything out

      Common misconception

Pupils may think that if someone has been designated to a team, this means they have been included.

People can feel excluded even when they're part of a team if they are ignored or not included in the decisions being made. There are many things that you can do to help your teammates to feel included and valued in the team.

      Teacher tip

This lesson explores some abstract ideas such as 'shared goals' which can be confusing in a subject that often uses physical goals. Understanding that pupils can be working together but doing different things is also a complex concept at key stage 1.
