Key learning points

  1. Move: making and holding a shape requires body tension, control and coordination.
  2. Think: ongoing reflection while concentrating on a problem ensures it will be solved.
  3. Feel: trying a range of different ideas shows self-belief and enables us to solve problems.
  4. Connect: cooperating with and listening to others is fair and it promotes trust in a partner.

Common misconception

Pupils can only stand when making letter shapes.

Pupils can lie, sit, or stand to make letter shapes.

It's ok for pupils to work in 3's, rather than leaving out a friend. This ensures that PE is a positive experience for all. Pupils will need some prior knowledge of capital letters before this lesson. Displaying keywords and phonics patterns is a nice cross curricular link for this lesson.
