Team activities: cooperating in a team game
Lesson details
Learning outcome
I can cooperate in a team and follow the rules of a game.
Key learning points
- Move: moving quickly and dodging can help the team succeed in chasing and tagging games.
- Think: demonstrating knowledge of the rules ensures that games flow smoothly.
- Feel: following the rules carefully shows honesty and allows everyone to enjoy the game.
- Connect: positive participation in a team shows cooperation and increases your chances of success.
Keywords
Rules - a guide that describes how to play a game
Success - trying your best and making progress towards achieving a goal
Teammate - the members in your group
Common misconception
Teammates are so busy running away from taggers that they forget to look carefully and collide with others.
Remind pupils that to avoid collisions, they must look ahead and dodge others by changing direction and slowing down.
Teacher tip
If you don't have enough bibs for everyone, use coloured beanbags instead. Each player holds a colour to match their teammates and can use it to tap others gently to tag them (not throw it!).
Equipment
coloured bibs, 6/7 large hoops, animal action cards (see additional materials), beanbags
