- Connect: when we make suggestions to help improve our groups performance we are developing our trust.
Keywords
Javelin - a long, pointed spear-like tool used in an athletics event called the javelin throw
Shot put - an athletics event in which an athlete throws a heavy object called a 'shot' as far as possible
Compete - the process or act of trying to win.
Common misconception
Pupils believe that you throw the shot in the shot put event, similar to how you throw the javelin.
Although 'throw' is often the terminology used when competing in the shot put, pupils should push the shot which starts from under their chin. A throwing action, when using a heavier shot, would likely cause a wrist/elblow/shoulder injury.
