Common misconception
Pupils think that powerful actions should be performed quickly.
Powerful actions can be performed at any speed. However, rushing and moving too quickly can make it difficult to control the actions.
Teacher tip
Some children find using sounds can help them to capture the dynamic of an action, such as a gasp of surprise or a sigh of disappointment. Allowing the pupils to quietly include these during the devising period can help them to embody and sustain the different dynamics.
