Question and answer: dialogue
Lesson details
Learning outcome
I can use question and answer to communicate a conversation between performers.
Key learning points
- Move: holding a still shape precisely communicates our mood or dance idea clearly.
- Think: deciding when to move and when to stop is an essential factor in question and answer.
- Feel: waiting for your partner to stop demonstrates self-discipline.
- Connect: communicating a conversation involving question and answer requires collaboration.
Keywords
Question and answer - a choreographic relationship in which the performers take turns to dance
Stillness - not moving, the absence of action
Focus - where a performer is looking
Common misconception
Pupils think that a conversation only involves speaking aloud.
In dance, we can show a conversation by using our actions to represent the words being spoken. We can communicate the idea of dialogue without saying a word.
Teacher tip
Watching a conversation between people without hearing the sound can demonstrate how we can interpret a conversation without hearing what the people are saying.
Equipment
Suggested music.
