Lesson details
Learning outcome
I can communicate effectively with my teammates and develop different ways of communicating.
Key learning points
- Move: reacting quickly and moving fast helps us to successfully complete the challenges.
- Think: a successful team communicates, listens, shares ideas and supports each other when we make mistakes.
- Feel: communicating and cooperating with our teammates, even when we lose a challenge, shows resilience and integrity.
- Connect: listening to each other's ideas and communicating with one another respectfully shows excellent cooperation.
Keywords
Communication - exchanging information, ideas, thoughts or feelings
Listening - paying attention to information received from our teammates
Cooperation - working together towards a common goal or purpose
Common misconception
Pupils believe that effective communication only involves speaking clearly to someone.
Ensure pupils understand that communication works two ways. Speaking clearly is important, however listening attentively is equally important to ensure the information is received.
Teacher tip
Observe the groups to ensure all pupils have the chance to speak and listen. If some pupils are dominating, assign specific roles to others to give them a voice and encourage everyone to listen as well as contribute.
