Lesson details

Key learning points

  1. Move: it is important to run as fast as possible to score points as a batter and to retrieve the ball as a fielder.
  2. Think: making good decisions when batting helps score points and when fielding helps prevent the batters scoring.
  3. Feel: congratulating opponents when they perform better than us shows we are respectful to others.
  4. Connect: striving to play our best, even when we are losing in a game, shows we have excellent resilience.

Keywords

  • Batting - when a player uses a bat to hit a thrown or bowled ball, aiming to score points by hitting it far

  • Fielding - when players on the non- batting team try to catch or stop the ball and get the batters out

  • Game - an activity or sport in which people compete with each other according to agreed rules

Common misconception

A celebration can only be shown or given when they have been successful.

Children may feel a lack of inclusion and encouragement if acknowledgement of their efforts are only made when they have been successful.
