Batting - when a player uses a bat to try to hit a ball that is thrown or bowled to them.
Fielding - when players on the team that is not batting try to catch or stop the ball and get the batters out.
Game - an activity or sport in which people compete with each other according to agreed rules.
Common misconception
Pupils hold the bat and attempt to strike the ball using just 1 hand, like they would in similar sports, such as rounders.
Ensure pupils understand that this approach can lead to a lack of control, making it difficult to play different shots. A correct 2 handed grip is essential for balance, precision and better shot execution.
