Lesson details

Key learning points

  1. Move: applying expressive skills to actions improves projection.
  2. Think: identifying the qualities we admire in others requires reflection.
  3. Feel: not being affected by the opinion of others involves integrity.
  4. Connect: representing another person accurately demonstrates respect.

Keywords

  • Extension - lengthening through the body to fully perform an action

  • Emphasis - highlighting an action or shape

  • Focus - where a performer is looking

Common misconception

Not accepting the first action that a pupil offers is likely to put them off.

Challenging pupils to generate more than one response, or to find ways to refine their actions, before making their final selection, enables pupils to develop their creativity and understanding of choreographic and performance skills.
