Lesson details

Learning outcome

Apply skills and strategies in attack to increase the chances of scoring.

Key learning points

  1. Move: the direction and size of the force that you apply to the kin-ball affects it's trajectory.
  2. Think: hitting the kin-ball away from defenders increases the chances of scoring.
  3. Feel: effectively applying new skills in competition increases confidence.
  4. Connect: producing a stable “set” requires effective teamwork.

Keywords

  • Force - physical effort applied to the ball to control it's movement during play

  • Scanning - quickly observing and assessing the positions and movements of opponents and teammates before making a play

  • Anticipate - ability of players to predict and react to the movement of the ball and the actions of the opposing teams

Common misconception

Punching is an effective way of hitting the kin-ball.

Hitting with your hands clasped together helps to prevent injury, improve stability, ensure accuracy and enable faster, stronger hits.

Teacher tip

If size of class demands more than 4 per team, play with substitutes or adapt the game to have more players.
