Lesson details
Key learning points
- Move: playing netball requires stamina to continue to execute a pass with good ball placement within 3 seconds.
- Think: it is important to consider movements that help to create space for others, when attacking.
- Feel: remaining in your third will build confidence to control and manage the ball moving through the court.
- Connect: knowing my responsibility in dead ball situations is an important part of being in the team.
Keywords
Centre pass - starts the game from the centre circle. The centre pass is then alternated between each team after a goal has been scored
Penalty pass - a penalty involving another player that is taken where the infringement occurred and the offending player stands out of play
Dead ball situation - when play is stopped for a throw in, centre pass or for free or penalty pass
Common misconception
When a penalty pass is awarded, the player infringed has to take the pass.
Any player can take the penalty pass if it is in a third they are permitted to go into. Players need to communicate who this player can be in order to create an attacking advantage, as the player who made the infringement has to stand out of play.
