In Year 1 pupils built up an understanding of how belonging is central to most worldviews. In this unit they will apply this understanding to a unit focussed in depth on churches, mosques and synagogues. It is situated here as pupils have deeper knowledge of the worldviews and so can look at diversity in more depth through a series of carefully chosen case studies. They will revisit these ideas in Key Stage 2.
Prior knowledge requirements
- Pupils should know the names of places of worship for different religions.
- Pupils should know the names of followers of religions.
- Know what the titles of religious leaders in a community e.g vicar
