In Year 1 pupils studied Jewish, Christian and humanist stories about the origins of the world and attitudes to nature. Now, in Year 4, they look at this from a dharmic perspective. Drawing on their understanding of dharma from Year 2 and 3 they are able to analyase how the concept of dharma might impact how Hindus see the world and what action this might lead to.

Prior knowledge requirements

  • Pupils will know some Hindu stories, such as Rama and Sita in the Ramayana.
  • Pupils will know that Hindu Dharma is an ancient worldview from India.
  • Pupils will know that dharma is an important Hindu concept and is found in many Hindu stories.
  • Pupils will know that Hindus have a pluralist worldview with many ways to live.
