In Year 1 and 2 pupils begun to learn some key knowledge about Islam. They deepened this in Year 3 through a focus on Islamic prayer and fasting. This unit allows them to dive deeply into the life of the Prophet so they can see his significance beyond being the final prophet for Muslims. They will develop an understanding of the Qur'an but also how the hadith provide rich material for Muslims to know how to live. Case studies of Muslims will allow them to connect this to society today.

Prior knowledge requirements

  • Pupils will have studied aspects of Islam, including prayer and fasting.
  • They will have explored stories about Prophet Muhammad in KS1.
  • They will be familiar with the terms Qur'an and Hadith.
