Key learning points
- The sound-spelling correspondences [ga], [go, [gu] can be contrasted with one another for practice and accuracy.
- Learning new words is important and useful in the languages classroom.
- To say 'she, he, it' with an -er verb, remove the -er ending and add -e.
- To say 'we' with an -er verb, remove the -er ending and add -emos.
- We can use the 3rd person singular and 1st person plural forms of verbs to say who does what.
Keywords
Verb - word that communicates actions or states
3rd person singular - form of the verb used for talking about she, he, it
1st person plural - form of the verb used for talking about we
Common misconception
We need to use pronouns when talking about she, he, it or we.
We usually don't need pronouns because the verb ending indicates whether it is 'she, he, it' or 'we' doing the action.
Teacher tip
Pupils may need additional practice to remember new vocabulary. They could create actions for the new words and have a quick game of charades in class, or in pairs, to consolidate this new language.
