- The preterite is used for completed past events; two key irregular verbs are 'ir' and 'hacer'.
- 'Fui', 'fuiste' and 'fue' mean 'I went, 'you went' and 'she, he, it went' respectively.
- 'Hice', 'hiciste' and 'hizo' mean 'I did, made', 'you did, made' and 'she, he, it did, made' respectively.
- There is no word in Spanish for ‘on’ before a day of the week. Instead, the definite articles 'el' and 'los' are used.
