Key learning points
- If a Spanish word has final syllable stress, and ends in a vowel or -n/-s, there will be an accent on the last vowel.
- The verb 'ir' is irregular and means 'to go'. 'I go' is 'voy', 'you go' is 'vas' and 'she, he, it goes' is 'va'.
- In the preterite tense the singular forms of 'ir' are: 'fui' (I went), 'fuiste' (you went) and 'fue' (she, he, it went).
- 'To' is 'a' in Spanish; before a feminine noun 'to the' is 'a la', before a masculine noun it is 'al'.
- To create some Spanish adverbs from adjectives you take the feminine form (ending in -a) and add -mente on the end.
