      Keywords

      • BORDER - acronym used to respond fully and accurately to bullet point writing prompts

      • VAN check - a proofreading technique to improve the accuracy of verbs, adjectives and nouns

      Common misconception

As long as I say something about the topic, it doesn't matter what tense I use.

You must respond to the bullet point using the correct tense (e.g. past, present, future) to fully address it. Other tenses can add depth, but they don't replace the need to respond directly in the specified tense.

      Teacher tip

Task B1 presents a good opportunity for peer marking; you could encourage students to swap books and check for each part of BORDER in each other's answers as well as use the VAN check.
