﻿These are the things that you and your learning partner needs to remember for every lesson that we do. You need to be ready to learn. Your learning partner will know how to help you, and when you're ready from now in what position, where and what time you learn best. When you're learning, isn't engaging, it's okay to stop. They'll also know what things are safe for you to do, especially when you taste, touch and explore. Particularly if you've got allergies or other medical conditions. You will do things for yourself as much as possible, finding things, discovering, exploring, and making your own sounds or movements no matter how small. You should control things as much as possible. Independent discovery is the key to your learning and for you to make great progress. Whenever you've exploring, it's good for the person working with you to stop, wait and see if you'd like to do something again. Or if you want more of something, you might have a way of doing this, that's clear or ready, or you might just be starting to do that. You'll need time. You might take a long time over this lesson or a short time. It depends what you think to what we're exploring or how you're feeling. You can repeat this lesson as many times as you like. The person working with you might need to wait quietly for you to work out what it is that you want to do. People sometimes call this processing time. Because I know that your body doesn't do what you want it to do straight away. I might use lots of words at the start of a lesson so that you and your learning partner know what it is that you going to do, what it is that you need to get ready. But when you're learning together, they'll always be really clear in their language because you're just starting to know what words mean. If you've got a communication book or a device, the person working with you will help you practise using really helpful words like 'more' and 'stop'. Words like this are core words, and are really useful for you to exert control. To help you understand new words, the person working with you can model these on your communication device or communication book if you've got one. You might just be starting to notice things using your senses. The person working with you will know how you do this, and when you're doing something new or something really amazing. Sometimes we'll do things that you like, and sometimes we'll do things that you don't like. That's okay. It's your chance to say stop or I don't like it in whatever way you can. If it's upsets you or it isn't safe, it's really important to stop. If you belong to a school I'm sure your teacher would love to hear about any brilliant work that you do during your Oak sessions. Hello, my name is Kate and it's time for music, so that you and the person that you're working with know what you need for this lesson. Everything's on the next slide. So if you pause, then you can get ready to do our work. In moment, pause the video to gather your resources. Things that you will need an instrument that you can play yourself like bells or a tambourine. You could even make your own instrument, bubble wrap, foil, or a large piece of paper that can make a crackling sound. Just like fireworks, a blown up balloon, a candle, preferably in electric one. If you use a real candle, make sure that the adult working with you helps you and keeps you safe. Things that you could get ready, but aren't essential. Bright lights, if this is safe for you to look at. The pieces of music that we are using today, so that you can revisit them. We're listening to OmJai Jagdish Hare sung by Anuradha Paudwal, which is a traditional Hindu aarti. Lots of other people have sang this song too A microphone. Once you're ready, restart this video. Getting ready to learn. What you'll need. Some music, to help you remember this lesson. You can choose what this is. Your instrument that you can play yourself. The support and activities that help you and your body to get ready to learn. Now to tell us that it's time for music, I'd like you to choose an instrument that you can play by yourself if you can, you can have some help if you need it too. Now you might want to choose, a tambourine. You might want to choose, Oh hey, look we've got some bells. You can wrap around your wrist and you might be able to meet your hand just a small amount so you can play them yourself. Or you might want to choose a maraca, whatever you've got in your house and that you can play by yourself. I think today, I'm going to choose these bells. So to tell us that it's time for music. Well, we're going to say together is, it's time for music It's time for music, let's get ready, let's get ready, it's time for music. It's time for music, let's get ready let's get ready. Now I know that some of you, you might need a little bit of help, getting your body ready to learn. So you might want to stretch your arms out. You might need to stretch your hands and your fingers out. There might be something else that you need to do to get your body ready to learn so that you are at your best. So what I'd like you to do is find a piece of music that's nice and calm or that you like, and that you can get ready for our work. So pause at the next slide to do that. So today music, we're going to think about how India people celebrate Diwali. Now during Diwali, there's lots of things that you can see, but there's lots to hear too. First thing that we're going to think about is the aarti and aarti can mean the same word as him. So it's a song that you would sing to your gods. Aarti is also the offering of light to the gods. So you can listen to this bit of music to see what you think. You also watch my candle as it waves around or you and the person that you're working with at home, might want to light a candle or having an electric candle. And if you don't want to and see if you can follow it and to notice it. So are you ready? Let's go. In the next part of this video, a disco light is used to make some beautiful colours on the wall. Sometimes the disco light might be a bit bright or look like it's flushing just be careful. If you're sensitive to lights or if flushing lights might make you unwell, please ask the person working with you to check it first, to make sure it will be safe and comfortable for you to watch. Diwali is a time of lots and lots of sound, but also lots of lights everywhere to help you think of Diwali and all the fireworks and the flickering candles you might see. You might want to put on some great lights like this. So we've got the lights of Diwali. We also need all that noise of Diwali. Now Diwali is a time of flickering, crackling candles and exploding and crackling fireworks. So I'd like you to listen to, or to try and make some fireworks and see what you can find. I've got some bubble wrap. If you use a wheelchair, you might be able to wheel your chair over the bubble wrap, or you might be able to squeeze it, to make the sound of the popping fireworks. Are you ready to listen to this? So you might be able to do that, or you might want to listen to the fireworks. There's somebody else can do with this this bubble wrap. I've got a fantastic piece of space blankets, or any piece of paper that you can find around the house, you only need small movements to make the crackles of the fireworks. And I want you to do this as much yourself as possible. Are you ready to listen to this? Great as well, because you can see all those lights shining in the space blankets. You could use oil as well. Now it's your turn. So remember, try and make those sounds yourself and try and think what sounds you really, really like. And if you'd like to hear them again. So when you're ready, pause at the next slide, and you can make your fireworks sounds. Pause the video here whilst you listen to respond to and make all the sounds of Diwali fireworks. When you finished stop the video again. So we're going to listen to a different sound now. we've got the sound of Om and it's a really special, same for Hindus. They believe it's the sound of the universe and that the vibrations can travel inside your soul. So I'd like you to listen to the sound of om. I'm going to do it first, and the person who you're working with can make this sound too. Om. Om. Might want to listen to it and copy it just like that. Or you might want to make the sound even louder by using a microphone and a speaker, so you can feel those vibrations. See what you think to that. Or you can use a balloon. So when you have that balloon next to your body, the sound vibrates even louder. So the person working with you, you even could make the Om, sounds into and onto a balloon for you to hold and feel. Now you might be able to make those sounds yourself. You might be able to copy what the person that you're working with can do. You might make your own special Om sound. So when you and your learning partner are ready, pause at the next slide. So you can sing 'Om'. Pause the video whilst you and your learning partner sing Om When you finished your learning, start the video again, Great work today at making your own sounds and celebrating Diwali. So you can repeat this lesson as many times as you like, because it might help you remember what it is that you need to do, and it might help you get even better at making your own sounds, whether it's with an instrument or a piece of material or using your own voice.
