In the future unit pupils round to any number of decimal places and learn about significant figures.

Rounding and solving problems with numbers up to 7 digits

In this unit pupils will use knowledge of shape properties to draw, sketch and identify shapes  In the future unit pupils will explain how to calculate the area of a parallelogram and a triangle and describe the relationship between scale factors and side lengths of two shapesThey will describe positions in all four quadrants drawing and translating simple shapes and reflecting them in the axes

They will explain the effect on the quotient when scaling the dividend and divisor by the same amount. In the future unit pupils will describe the relationship between two factors and use a ratio grid to calculate unknown values.

They will learn how the distributive law applies to division expressions with a common divisor and using the distributive law to solve equations. In the future unit pupils will use priority of operations with positive and integers and decimals.

In this unit pupils will explain how addition and subtraction can help solve multiplication and division problems.
