Description

In this unit pupils investigate the idea of religious experience. They start with the ideas of William James before examining case studies from history and Christian, Islamic and Hindu worldviews.

At this point, pupils have the opportunity to gain a solid grounding in philosophy and psychology. They have also had theological examples of religious experience and the impact of them on believers. This enables students to access and unpack the work of James at a higher level, with an appreciation of the relationship between the disciplines as they explore the nature and validy of religious experience.

  2. Persinger's God helmet
  3. Ian McCormack and near death experience
