      This unit introduces new sculpture materials and techniques. Pupils have developed sufficient fine motor control to manipulate materials to realise their intentions at this stage, and to apply their prior knowledge to this new challenge. In this unit pupils will use their knowledge of portraiture and structure of the face in the context of sculpture and 3D design.

      Prior knowledge requirements

      • Experience of working with their hands to create simple 3D forms
      • Basic fine motor skills for crafting, sketching, cutting, gluing and arranging materials
      • Prior experience of basic facial proportions
      • Familiarity with the concept of patterns, symbols, and textures
      • Experience of basic drawing and sketching techniques
      • Familiarity with using basic tools like scissors, glue and tape safely and accurately
