Why this why now
This unit encourages pupils to consider the notion of the family in all of its diversity. This will encourage a deeper reflection and analysis of the various nuances within this theme, at a time when pupils increasingly seek to articulate diverse experiences. This complexity of thought will be needed as they move into their exam years and will be supported creatively through more symbolic forms of communication, as well as being inspired by more sculptural forms of practice.
Prior knowledge requirements
- Ability to contribute to group discussions and listen respectfully to other's opinions.
- Experience of expressing a theme through art.
- Experience of self reflection and evaluation.
- Experience of responding to artists' work.
