The World Wide Web is a vast collection of interconnected websites and documents hosted on servers all over the world. Your web browser accesses these different locations to display the information you see.
Teacher tip
Emphasise that a website's content is stored on a particular server, a computer located somewhere in the world. When students type a web address, their computer connects to that specific server to retrieve the website's files.
