      Keywords

      • Material - what something is made from

      • Structure - a structure is something that is made for a purpose, something that is formed and holds its shape

      • Collage - a picture made by sticking different materials, such as paper, fabric or photos, onto a surface

      • Bridge - a structure that helps people to cross something, such as water, railway or another road

      Common misconception

When gluing, always put the glue on the object that is being glued down.

By adding the glue to the backing instead of the object being glued down, it will prevent mess and reduce excess glue from being used. Additionally, use the a small amount of glue first as you can always add more glue.

      Teacher tip

Use a range of materials to create a collage - different papers, card and cardboard art straws.

      Equipment

Pictures of bridges by a range of engineers/designers, scissors, range of coloured papers/different textured papers and different finishes, PVA/glue sticks, backing paper for the collage.
