      Lesson details

      Learning outcome

I can identify different types of puppets and how they are made.

      Key learning points

      1. There are many different designs of puppets for different purposes.
      2. Disassembling puppets allows designers to look at the stitching techniques.

      Keywords

      • Puppet - a toy or model of a person or animal that you can move to tell a story or put on a show

      • Material - what an object is made from

      • Disassembly - taking something apart to see how it works

      Common misconception

All puppets are made the same way using the same materials.

Puppets can have different purposes/uses. Some use lollipop sticks, others have strings move each part. Puppets are used for storytimes, playtimes, concerts and on TV. Some talk with help from their puppeteers.
