Common misconception
Pupils may not know what constitutes 'one single idea' to effectively create a compound sentence.
Use the sentence scaffolds as much as possible, so that pupils are only adding their own adjectives. The purpose of this lesson is initial introduction to joining two ideas, rather than expecting them to be secure, so model as much as is needed.
