Common misconception
Pupils may find it hard to identify the differences between the original Cinderella and the one in the poem.
Recap the traditional Cinderella story and how Cinderella is made to do all the chores. Highlight that she needed a prince to save her whereas in the poem she takes control of her own future.
Teacher tip
Read and display other poems from the 'Dear Ugly Sisters' collection for pupils to enjoy. You may wish to explore other fairy tale-inspired poems from the collection e.g. 'Rapunzel', 'Did You Sleep Well?' and 'Three Bears vs Goldilocks'.
