- To form -er verbs in the present tense, remove -er and add the endings -e, -es and -e for the singular verb forms.
- To say ‘(in order) to do something’ or ‘without doing something’, use 'pour' or 'sans' before a verb in the infinitive.
- Ask intonation questions in French by raising your voice pitch; add a question word at the end for more information.
Keywords
[é/er/ez] - pronounced as in 'écrire'
-er verb - a verb whose infinitive form ends in -er
Intonation - rise and fall of the voice in speaking
Common misconception
When you add a question word at the end of a question, there is no need to change your intonation.
It is important to use your intonation by raising the pitch of your voice at the end of all questions in French.
Teacher tip
Text B2 could be further exploited as a translation or a read aloud task. The second cycle is an opportunity to see what students already know about the places on the map and if they would like to go to a film festival or a kite festival!
