- The most important thing for successful reading comprehension is a secure knowledge of vocabulary.
- It is also very helpful to look out for synonyms and distractors when answering reading comprehension questions.
- When translating, 'zoom in' to translate individual words and 'zoom out' to check the meaning of the whole sentence.

Common misconception
When translating into English from German, I only need to understand the gist of the sentences.
When translating, it's important to ensure that you have accounted for the meaning of every German word, even though you might not translate word-for-word into English.
