Common misconception
Knowing and understanding that one-fifth as a fraction is equivalent to 0.2 as a decimal and that counting in steps of 0.2 is the same as counting in fifths.
Make sure that pupils have the opportunity to rehearse the fact that one-fifth is equivalent to 0.2 more frequently during the lesson and at other times when looking at fractions and decimals.
