Keywords
Area - The area is the size of the surface and states the number of unit squares needed to completely cover that surface.
Estimate - A quick estimate for a calculation is obtained from using approximate values, often rounded to 1 significant figure.
Mean - The (arithmetic) mean for a set of numerical data is the sum of the values divided by the number of values. It is a measure of central tendency representing the average of the values.
Common misconception
Confusing unfamiliar units of measure.
Pupils may benefit from having two lists of metric and imperial measures to reference should they need to.
